TOWN OF WASAGA BEACH - The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged two individuals following a drug investigation as a result a Festive RIDE.
On Nov. 25, 2023, members of the Huronia West OPP conducted a festive RIDE in the Town of Wasaga Beach. At approximately 9:20 p.m., the accused parties were observed entering the RIDE program on River Road East. As a result of the traffic stop, two males were arrested and charged with several drug related offences.
Shant Apelian-Robinson, a 19-year-old from Springwater Township, has been charged with:
• Possession of illicit cannabis
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Cocaine
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methylenedioxyamphetamine (Ecstasy)
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Other Drugs
• Possession of a Schedule III Substance
• Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
• Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Other Drugs
The accused was released on an Undertaking and will appear on Jan. 9, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood, Ont.
A 17-year-old from Springwater Township has been charged with:
• YPC Possession of illicit cannabis
• YPC Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Cocaine
• YPC Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
• YPC Possession of a Schedule III Substance
• YPC Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methylenedioxyamphetamine (Ecstasy)
• YPC Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Other Drugs
• YPC Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Other Drugs
• Adult Prov. Person under 19 years - Possess Cannabis
• Adult Prov. Person under 19 years - Possess Cannabis
The accused was released on an undertaking and will appear in January 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood, Ont.
As a result of the investigation, the following property was seized:
• Quantity of cocaine
• Quantity of methylenedioxyamphetamine
• Quantity of mushrooms
• MDMA
• Quantity of hydromorphone
• Quantity of unknown pills
• Quantity of cannabis
• Digital scales
• Canadian currency
The name of the involved young person will not be released due to provisions contained in the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
