Wasaga Beach man charged after he's found in possession of prohibited weapon

Charges include 21 counts of failure to comply with release order

WASAGA BEACH - On May 6, 2020, the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into a number of incidents where a male was failing to comply with multiple conditions on his release order.

On May 11, 2020 at 2:49 p.m., the male was located in the passenger seat of a vehicle in a parking lot off of Main Street in the Town of Wasaga Beach. He was arrested without incident. A search found the male to be in possession of a type of conducted energy weapon.

As a result of the investigation, Bradley Elliot, 36 years of age of Wasaga Beach, Ont., was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
    •    CC 92(2) - Possession of a prohibited device
    •    CC 94 - Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited device
    •    CC 145(5)(a) - Failure to comply with release order (21 counts)
    •    CC 733.1(1) - Fail to comply with Probation Order (two counts)

The accused will appear for a bail hearing May 12, 2020.
