Two drivers face impaired driving charges after crashes

One is alleged to have fled the scene of a two vehicle crash in Springwater Township, the other was involved in a single vehicle crash in Clearview Township

HURONIA WEST - Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to two separate incidents which resulted in arrests.

The first incident police responded to was a two vehicle collision on County Road 92 in Springwater Township at 1:30 a.m. on April 6 where one of the vehicles had fled the scene. Police attended the area, located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

Following a police investigation, Nikkita Hartwick (age 26) of Georgina was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration - 80 plus
  • Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs
  • Failure to stop after accident
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on April 23, 2019.

The second incident police responded to was a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 91 in Clearview Township on April 6 at 4:25 a.m. where the driver had reportedly left the scene. Police located the driver shortly after responding to the area.

Following a police investigation, Jordan Young (age 32) of Collingwood has been arrested and charged with;

  •  Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration - 80 plus

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on April 25, 2019.

There were no reported injuries resulting from either incident.
