CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP - Officers of the Huronia West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals in relation to threats that were posted online.

Police received information about threats posted via a social media platform involving an area school. The investigation led officers to charge a 14-year-old and 18-year-old, both from Clearview Township, and both have been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and uttering threats to damage property.

They are to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on May 3, 2018.

Social media platforms provide an individual an audience to express personal opinion which can often generate online conversation. When comments of a threatening nature are conveyed, online or otherwise, and the police learn about them, in the interest of public safety, investigations are launched and involved persons are held accountable.
