Traffic stops leads to impaired driving charge in Wasaga Beach

WASAGA BEACH - On March 25, 2021 at approximately 11:35 p.m., a member of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 26 in Wasaga Beach and spotted a vehicle travelling more than one and a half times the posted speed limit.

The driver was stopped for her excessive speed. The officer also entered into an impaired driving investigation.

Amanda-Lee Lemay-Scribner, 21 years old of New Lowell, Ont., was arrested and charged with:
    •    Operation while impaired - contrary to Section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
    •    Race a motor vehicle - stunt driving - contrary to Section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act
    •    Fail to surrender insurance card - contrary to Section 3(1) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on May 4, 2021.
