Traffic stop results in numerous charges for Cornwall driver

HURONIA WEST - Officers from the Huronia West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to over 260 calls for service during the past weekend. Those calls were between Friday, July 12, 2019 and Sunday, July 14, 2019.

Some of the types of investigations conducted included domestic disturbances, mental health act concerns, traffic complaints and motor vehicle accidents. From these calls, some of the following incidents were investigated:
    •    21 motor vehicle collisions
    •    11 separate domestic investigations
    •    36 traffic complaints

A traffic stop on Sunday morning on Highway 26 in Springwater Township resulted in 30-year-old Steven Savage of Cornwall being charged with fail to comply with recognizance (four counts), possession of property obtained by crime, obstruct peace officer, resist peace officer, race a motor vehicle - excessive speed, use plate not authorized for motor vehicle, class G1 licence holder - unaccompanied by qualified driver, driver fail to surrender licence, drive vehicle or boat with cannabis in open original packaging. The accused was held for bail court on July 14, 2019.
