Three drivers charged with racing in Grey Highlands

Police report the drivers were travelling in excess of 130 km/h in an 80 km/h zone

GREY HIGHLANDS - Even in the last weeks of summer, Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to stop drivers for stunt driving.

On Sept. 13, 2020 an OPP officer stopped three motor vehicles that were racing together at excessive speeds on Highway 10, near Road 170 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

All three of these vehicles were travelling in excess of 130 kilometres per hour (km/h) in the posted 80 km/hr speed limit. 

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the following drivers with stunt driving - 50km/h or more over posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act.

  • Karthik Attavar, 33 years-of-age from East York, Ont. was driving a (red) sport utility vehicle
  • Haseeb Pavaskar, 30 years-of-age from Oakville, Ont. was driving a (blue) car
  • John Sherman, 45 years-of-age from Thornton, Ont. was driving a (black) pick-up truck

All three of these drivers were issued a provincial summons to attend court, a seven day drivers licence suspension and their vehicles were towed and will be impounded for seven days.
