On July 28, 2019, members of the Collingwood Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to assist security with an intoxicated male who refused to leave a local bar shortly before 1 a.m.
When police attended the area they arrested a 25-year-old male from Essa Township. During the arrest, the suspect suffered injuries.
The OPP has notified the province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and they have invoked their mandate. As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide any further information. Any inquiries should be directed to SIU Communications at 1-800-787-8529.
