Three people are facing charges after police seized a loaded gun, ammunition, drugs, and body armour Wednesday in Stayner.
The Huronia West/Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP Community Street Crime Unit, along with the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, and the Canine Unit, executed a search warrant. They seized a loaded Glock 19 handgun, 46 rounds of ammunition, body armour, fentanyl, powder cocaine, crack cocaine, and hydromorphone tablets.
As a result, Troy Dacosta, 28, of Scarborough, and April Hurst, 40, of Clearview Township, were charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of an opioid other than heroin for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a loaded and prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, three counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, and two counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition.
They were held for a bail hearing and were scheduled to appear Thursday in Barrie court.
Jacob Scott, 40, of Stayner was also charged with possession of cocaine. He was released on an undertaking and has a court appearance in Collingwood scheduled for Dec. 6.
