OPP stop 7 vehicles, lay 14 charges in Springwater overnight

Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were kept busy on the roads overnight, proactively keeping our roads safe.

During a six-and-a-half-hour window between 10:00 p.m. on Aug. 24, and 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 25, police stopped seven vehicles, laid 14 charges, took four vehicles off the road and suspended four driver's licenses.

Five of these drivers were young drivers between the ages of 17 and 18 years old and held G2 licenses.

The following is a breakdown of the charges laid:

  • 4 x Stunt Driving
  • 3 x Speeding
  • 1 x No Insurance
  • 1 x Use Plate Not Authorized
  • 1 x Improper Tires
  • 1 X No Muffler
  • 1 x Windshield Obstructed
  • 1 x Window Obstructed
  • 1 x Drive Motor Vehicle Plate Improperly Displayed

These vehicles were all caught operating on roads throughout Springwater Township including Highway 26, County Road 92 and George Johnston Road.
