OPP patrols press impaired driving charges

After checking out a suspicious vehicle, officers determined the person operating the vehicle was impaired.

On Oct. 30, 2021 at approximately 1:40 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting proactive patrols in the Town of Dundalk when they observed a suspicious vehicle parked at the Dundalk Memorial Park.   

Officers spoke with the occupants of the vehicle, and during the investigation the driver was placed under arrest. The driver was transported to an OPP detachment, where further tests were administered.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Zachary Wood, 27 years-of-age, from Grey Highlands with the following offences:

  • ·        Operation while impaired by alcohol, and
  • ·        Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released and must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on December 2, 2021.

The accused's driver licence was automatically suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was towed, and impounded for 7 days.
