The local police force is warning residents to lock their vehicles after "numerous" reports of thefts from parked cars in recent days.

According to a news release from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP, there have been 15 incidents in the last three days of thefts from unlocked vehicles from various areas in Collingwood.

Cash, loose change, wallets, sleeping bags, a GPS unit, keys, and vehicle registration documents were stolen during the nighttime incidents.

"Just keep in mind that the person(s) committing this type of theft is looking for an easy target, also known as an unlocked vehicle," states the OPP news release. "To prevent this type of occurrence, remove any valuables from the vehicle or place them in an area that is not easily visible from the outside, and, of course, lock your vehicle."

Investigations into the recent thefts are ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information about the incidents to call Collingwood OPP at 705-445-4321 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can leave a tip online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
