UPDATE: Late night break-in leaves pool closed this morning

The pool was one of three break-ins overnight currently being investigated by Collingwood OPP.

Centennial Aquatic Centre has now re-opened in time for a noon lane swim.

A late night break-in is the cause of the closure. The glass has been smashed out of a portion of the front door.

A staff member was standing by a whiteboard sign directing members of the public away. The Town of Collingwood has since announced on its website and Facebook page the pool has reopened as of 11:30 a.m.

According to Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP, police are currently investigating several break-ins that occurred to commercial properties last night between 12:30 a.m. and 2 a.m. this morning (Jan. 18). A news release from police says the break-ins took place at two businesses on First Street and one more on Third Street.

Police reported four other break-ins to town businesses two nights ago overnight between Jan. 16 and 17.

OPP Constable Martin Hachey said there was cash stolen – less than $200 has been confirmed stolen so far – last night. There were no items confirmed stolen in the incidents overnight between Wednesday and Thursday, according to Hachey.

Police are asking for the public's help in solving the crimes. Anyone with information on the break-ins can call OPP at 705-445-4321, or leave an anonymous tip at Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online here.
