Huronia West OPP lay multiple charges over Canada Day week

TOWN OF WASAGA BEACH, CLEARVIEW AND SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIPS – Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were relentless when it came to ensuring the safety of our residents and visitors over Canada Day week.

Between June 24 and July 3, members from the Huronia West OPP conducted enforcement on the roads, trails and on the water.

Officers performed multiple R.I.D.E spot checks in various locations. As a result of their commitment to community safety over Canada Day week, many drivers who put other lives at risk were removed from the roads. 

The following are just a few of the statistics from Canada Day week for the Huronia West Detachment:

  • Seat Belt charges: 72
  • Life Jacket charges: 12
  • Speeding charges: 166
  • Stunt driving charges: 7
  • Distracted driving charges: 9
  • Impaired driving charges: 13

The Huronia West OPP would like to thank every community member who obey the laws and encourage others to do the same. Your dedication and commitment play a huge part in helping to keep our communities safe.
