The original news release issued on Nov. 9, 2018 by the Ontario Provincial Police incorrectly identified the driver airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre as female. The following is a correction issued Nov. 13, 2018:

SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP - On Nov. 8, 2018 at approximately 7:30 p.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Springwater Fire Department and the Simcoe County Paramedic Service responded to a fatal collision on County Road 92, west of Elmvale, in Springwater Township.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle traveling west bound on County Road 92 crossed into the path of an east bound motor vehicle.

The vehicles collided head-on killing the 69-year-old male driver of the east bound vehicle. The 52-year-old male driver of the other motor vehicle suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre.

The investigation into this fatal motor vehicle collision is ongoing with the assistance of the Central Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit (TTCI). All lanes of travel have since been reopened.
