Police are reminding people about laws surrounding cannabis in vehicles after a driver received a warning Tuesday in Grey Highlands.

Grey Bruce OPP officers were conducting a RIDE check on Grey Road 12 when a driver was found with cannabis readily available in a vehicle. The 20-year-old from Clinton was warned.

“The OPP wants to remind motorists that the Cannabis Control Act 12(1) states, ‘No person shall drive or have the care or control of a vehicle or boat, whether or not it is in motion, while any cannabis is contained in the vehicle or boat. Exception, (a) is in its original packaging and has not been opened; or (b) is packed in baggage that is fastened closed or is not otherwise readily available to any person in the vehicle or boat,’” police said in a news release.
