Driver injured in Wasaga crash also charged with impaired driving

WASAGA BEACH - On Jan. 19, 2022, at approximately 8:12 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huronia West Detachment responded to a two-car collision that had occurred on Mosley Street near 65th Street North in the Town of Wasaga Beach.

On arrival, police spoke to both drivers, one of which caused police to enter into an impaired driving investigation. This driver was arrested at the scene, and transported to hospital with minor injuries. The other driver involved in the collision was not injured.

As a result of this collision, Jill Vanzella, 60 years old, of Wasaga Beach, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus

Vanzella's driver's licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. She is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood in February 2022.

Ontario citizens are reminded to do their part by never driving after consuming alcohol or drugs and never letting anyone else drive if you know or suspect that they have consumed either.
