Members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges in connection to an impaired driving investigation in Collingwood.

On April 14, the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP initiated a traffic investigation on Balsam Street. During the interaction with the driver, the officer detected an odour of alcohol and made a breath demand, which resulted in a fail on the roadside screening device.

The male was arrested and taken back to the OPP detachment to complete the investigation. Breath tests determined that he was over three times the legal limit.

As a result, David Rae, 49 years of age, of Collingwood, has been charged with operation while impaired (alcohol), operation while impaired (over 80) and driving under suspension.

The accused has been issued a 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on May 3.

If you suspect someone of driving while impaired, call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or dial 911 to report it.
