New Lowell driver killed in double-fatal crash in Caledon

OPP say two motorists were pronounced dead after head-on collision on Airport Road

CALEDON – A Barrie-area motorist was one of two people who died in a collision Wednesday in Caledon.

On Aug. 30 just after 4 p.m, Caledon OPP and emergency crews responded to a four-vehicle collision on Airport Road, near Charleston Sideroad. 

Police said the incident included two vehicles that collided head on. 

Both drivers, a 70-year-old from Erin and a 50-year-old from New Lowell, west of Barrie, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. 

Police said no other injuries were reported.

Airport Road was closed for several hours while the OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists assisted with the investigation, the OPP said in a news release.
