UPDATED: Police lay murder charge after death of 10-month-old

Police have charged a 30-year-old woman from Grey Highlands with first-degree murder; she is accused of causing the death of a ten-month-old infant this week. 

On Dec. 7, Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a call regarding an unresponsive infant at a home on South Line B. A news release by OPP stated officers tried to resuscitate the child before the baby was taken to a hospital in London. 

At that time, OPP charged Nancy Brubacher, 30, of Grey Highlands, with attempted murder and aggravated assault. 

Since then, however, police report the baby girl died of the injuries she sustained. 

Brubacher has now been charged with first-degree murder. She remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing. 

The Grey Bruce Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

A woman has been charged with attempted murder following an incident Thursday in Grey Highlands that sent an infant to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Grey Bruce OPP responded at about 9:45 a.m. to a call for assistance at a home on South Line B and found an unresponsive infant, according to a news release. Officers tried to resuscitate the 10-month-old child, who was taken to hospital in London.

Grey County paramedics and the Chatsworth Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Nancy Brubacher, 30, of Grey Highlands, has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault. She is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
