SPRINGWATER TWP - On July 10, 2020, around 1:30 p.m. members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Springwater Fire Department and Simcoe County Paramedic Service responded to a serious collision involving a farm tractor and motorcycle on Hwy 26 west of Horseshoe Valley Rd.

A motorcycle struck a farm tractor and the operator was thrown from the bike. David Ball, 64-years-old from Essa Twp, died at the scene of the collision.

Hwy 26 was closed for several hours while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene. The roadway reopened shortly before 7 p.m.
