2 facing drug trafficking charges after weekend stop

Members of the Collingwood Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) have arrested and charged two people with firearms and drug trafficking offences in relation to an incident over the weekend.

On Sept. 2, 2023 a uniform member of the Collingwood OPP observed two people who were wanted on warrants in Collingwood. The officer stopped those people and arrested them on the strength of the warrants. A quantity of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine was seized during the roadside investigation. The investigation was continued by the Collingwood CSCU resulting in a search warrant being executed on a motel room in Collingwood. The search warrant was executed by police who seized a firearm, an expandable baton, fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and packaging material. Additionally, $1,465 in cash and the street value of the drugs is estimated to be about $3,100.

A 40-year-old woman from Collingwood has been charged with:

  • possession of Schedule I Substance (methamphetamine) for the purpose of trafficking
  • possession of Schedule I Substance (Cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking
  • possession of Schedule I Substance (Fentanyl) for the purpose of trafficking
  • possession of Schedule IV Substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • unauthorized possession of a non-restricted firearm
  • possession of a weapon
  • possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order

A 29-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with:

  • possession of Schedule I Substance (methamphetamine) for the purpose of trafficking
  • possession of Schedule I Substance (Cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking
  • possession of Schedule I Substance (Fentanyl) for the purpose of trafficking
  • possession of Schedule IV Substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • unauthorized possession of a non-restricted firearm
  • possession of a weapon

The accused were held in custody for a bail hearing and will be scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood, at a future date.
