2 charged in connection to daytime break and enters

Of the two, one is also facing weapons charges

Members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made two arrests in connection to a daytime break and enter in Collingwood.

On Oct. 26, 2021, at approximately 3:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of suspects stealing packages from front porches of homes in the west end of Collingwood. Upon arrival to the area, officers observed a disturbance at a residence and attended to investigate.

The initial investigation revealed that the residents arrived home and interrupted a break and enter in progress. Officers successfully arrested two people at the scene.

As a result of the investigation, Darren Jackson, 34 years of age, of Collingwood, has been charged with:

  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Break, enter, dwelling house - commit indictable offence
  • Theft under $5,000 from motor vehicle

The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Cole Stewart, 22 years of age, of Innisfil, has been charged with:

  • Theft under $5,000

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood, on November 30, 2021.
