Boy, 13, charged with aggravated assault after teen collapsed after school

A 13-year-old boy from Bradford West Gwillimbury has been charged with assault following an altercation that sent another teenager to hospital last week.

South Simcoe police say they were called at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 14 after a 13-year-old boy collapsed shortly after arriving home from school.

An investigation by the force's Criminal Investigation Bureau determined that the boy had been injured in a physical altercation and charged another 13-year-old with aggravated assault.

The alleged victim remains in hospital in critical condition.

The accused was released to his parents and will appear in court at a future date.

Police say they are aware of a video of the fight that has been circulating on social media and are appealing for anyone in its possession to submit it to detectives or Crime Stoppers.
