Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on Thursday, September 14, 2022 in his 93rd year.

Joe was born on June 20, 1930 to parents John and Rose (nee Fitzgerald) Wylie.  Dear father of Marvin, Rose Adams, Mabel (Mike) Hadley, Doris Lewis, Peter McFadden (Esther) and Joseph McFadden.  Dear grandfather of Courtney (Christopher), Brittney (Calvin), Corey (Liz), Colin (Phoenix), Tara (Shane), Molly (Jeremy), Isaac (Danielle), Jennifer and Dakota.  Loving great grandfather of Koda, Colton, Carter, Logan, Thomas, Sydney, Izalea and Isabella.  Joe was employed in the construction industry in Lindsay and later moved to Collingwood in 1972 to work at the Ship Yards.

In his later years, he was a groundskeeper to many residents in the Collingwood area.  He was a very active member of St. Mary’s Church and believed in his faith immensely.  As an animal lover, Joe welcomed all the neighborhood dogs and cats with a treat as they passed by his home.  Joe was a very kind, caring and generous man, with an amazing sense of humour.  Like any father, he was a hero and deeply cared for his family.  A special thank you to all the doctors, nurses, Angel pro Rest staff, his PSW (Rosa) and Heather Porter for going above and beyond for giving our father special care.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Chris & Susan Holmes and the caring staff of Chatterson Funeral Home.  Dad treasured the friendships that he acquired with so many people.

The family will receive friends at the Chatterson Funeral Home, 404 Hurontario Street, Collingwood on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 from 9a.m. to 10:45a.m.  A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 63 Elgin Street, Tuesday at 11a.m.  Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.  If desired, a donation in his memory may be made to the Georgian Triangle Humane Society.  To leave a message of condolence or to share a memory of Joe, please visit www.chattersonfuneralhome.com
