1948 – 2024

With family by his side, James (Jim) Whittome passed away on January 22nd, 2024, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, at the age of 75.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife Helen of 42 years and his children Mark (Natalie), Shelley (Jason), Chad (Kathy) and Lara (Don). He is also survived by his siblings Bev (Dick), Wendy (Jeff) and Alf (Val) and lovingly remembered by his nine grandchildren: Luke, Signe, William, Robert, Payten, Elliott, Parker, Wren and Judah.

Jim was a hard-working man with a good sense of humour who loved to read, play cards, dance and enjoy a drink, or two, of wine or scotch. He enjoyed the finer things in life. He also loved to travel which he did extensively with his wife Helen. Cruising became a passion, especially when accompanied by good friends.

Born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, Jim spent 27 years in the Canadian Military, followed by a very fulfilling career for 16 years with Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation. There he supported aerospace products, including the Global Express, and established many friendships at DeHavilland Canada in Toronto. These were some of the most rewarding years of his life.

As requested, Jim will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring with details to follow. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the many Medical Staff, Caregivers, family and friends for their compassion and support over the past several years. Jim will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Donations to the Multiple System Atrophy Organization at www.support.multiplesystemstrophy.org or North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
