It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Stanley John Wells of Wasaga Beach, on Tuesday December 5, 2023 at the age of 76.

Stan was born on May 26, 1947 in Toronto to Florence (Ackrow) and Laurence Wells.  He came to Wasaga Beach for a teaching position in 1969 and never left. It was here that he met his wife Betty (Ellis) and they married in 1973. Betty and Stan recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past August. He will be missed by his 4 children, Jon (Carolyn), Melissa (Brandon), Michael, and Matthew (Alexandra). Stanley adored his 6 grandchildren, Quinn, Kylie, Kate, William, Emily and Melia and his 4 legged friend, Bear.

Stan dedicated his life to public service as an educator and public servant. He spent over 30 years working in education with the Simcoe County District School Board, as a teacher, principal, and retiring as Superintendent in 2001. He spent 12 of those years working at Worsley Elementary School (formerly Oxbow Park Public School) in Wasaga Beach. Stan was dedicated to helping his community and served 4 terms on Wasaga Beach Council. He was a charter member of the Wasaga Beach Kinsmen Club and is a member of Wasaga Beach Probus, Wasaga Beach Cruisers, and Wasaga Beach Corvette Club.

Stan has requested a private ceremony for family members. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Royal Victoria Hospital Foundation for the Barrie Cancer Centre or Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation. To sign Stan’s Book of Memories, please visit www.carruthersdavidson.com
