WAY, Raymond

Posted

Peacefully, at Campbell House Hospice, Collingwood Ontario at the age of 95, Raymond Way of Kingston, Ontario, beloved husband of Levina for 69 years. Loving father of Lydia Way. Pre-deceased by his 2 brothers and 5 sisters.

Ray was an employee of DuPont of Canada for 35 years and retired in 1986. Ray was a music lover and was a member of the Barbershop Singers, Kingston Chapter. He was a talented singer and sang and acted in several musicals in Kingston such as “The Music Man”, “Kismet”, “Most Happy Fella” and “Sweetest Girl in Town”. He enjoyed four-part harmony and was a member of many quartets over the years. He was handy and liked repairing small things around the house and he helped many friends who needed something fixed or built. Ray was always there to lend a hand.

He enjoyed the home he built with support from the Veteran’s Land Act, and this is where he and Levina hosted many dinner parties, picnics, and pot-luck suppers through the years. He had a terrific sense of humour and loved to joke around while sipping his home-made wine with a gathering of good friends.

He was proud of his daughter, Lydia, as he watched her flourish in her banking career.

After selling their home on the Washburn Road, Ray and Levina moved to Collingwood.

Thanks to Dr Rogers of Collingwood, the nurses and staff of Campbell House Hospice, and Lisa Goodfellow and her team from Home and Community Care Support Services.
