I lift up my eyes to the hills –

Where does my help come from?

My help comes from the Lord,

The Maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 121: 1 & 2

Our Lord and Saviour called Tony Visser to his eternal home with Him on Tuesday, January 16th, 2024 after a short stay in the hospital. Opa to Esther, Allison (Tom), Michelle, Anthony Visser and Veronica, Justin, Katie, Levi Viljakainen. Beloved brother of Annie (Albert) Ketz, and brother-in-law of Trijntje, Aukje, Klaas (Piertsje) of the Netherlands. Predeceased by brothers Chris & Coot. Tony will be remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews and friends.

Tony was born Antoon Christianus Visser on April 29th, 1935 in Westervoort, the Netherlands. The eldest child of Jacobus & Jana Visser and an older brother to Coot, Chris and Annie. Tony grew up on a farm with an orchard and some farm animals. At the age of 21, Tony moved to Canada, working on dairy and tobacco farms and eventually buying his own dairy farm with his bride, Lois in 1963. Tony worked for 60+ years on his dairy farm with Lois and eventually his son James. Tony loved “red’ tractors, fieldwork, attending auction sales, coffee and a “boston cream” with friends at Tim Horton’s and teasing his grandkids. Tony was an active member of the Collingwood Christian Reformed Church since 1963 and has many friends there who often took time to visit him. Tony moved into a retirement home in Barrie in April of 2023 after a short illness and settled in very quickly becoming a staff favourite for his quick wit and smile.

Many thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at Mulcaster Mews for the months that Tony lived with you. Also special thanks to each and every caretaker at RVH that crossed Tony’s path in the last couple of weeks. Your kindness and care were second to none and greatly appreciated. Thank you.
