In Loving Memory of John Timmerman
John passed away suddenly on Monday January 29, 2024, at the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital at the age of 81. John will be deeply missed by his best friend, love of his life and dearest wife of 58 years, Gail; his daughter Michelle her husband Dave, sons Eric his wife Theresa and Cameron. Proud and loving Papa of Olivia (Derek), Emma (Riley), Lauren (Carter), Taylor, Kegan, and Rylan.
Also remembered by sisters Irene (Ken), Ginny, Susan (Gary); sisters-in-law Linda, Hilda and Ann and brother-in-law John (Marilyn).
John was born in the Netherlands to Pieter and Pietertje Timmerman and emigrated to Canada when he was 10 years old. After trying a few different careers, John attended law school and had a practice in Shelburne for many years where he and Gail raised their family. John and Gail travelled the world together and enjoyed skiing, ringette tournaments, golfing, curling and time with family and good friends. He also enjoyed a good martini and Manhattan.
We would like to express our gratitude to the staff of the dialysis unit at CGM Hospital for the amazing care they provided John over the past 4 years.
At John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 63, 490 Ontario St. Collingwood on Friday February 16th from 1 – 4 pm. Remembrances held at 1 pm. followed by reception.
