Gray Styan, 96, passed away peacefully at Campbell House Hospice in Collingwood, ON. Gray was married for 68 years to his life-long friend and wife Phyllis (Morrison) Styan, who passed away in August 2021.  Phyllis and Gray spent the first half of their lives in the Eastern Townships area of Quebec before moving to Brantford, ON. The last 6 years were spent at Balmoral Place in Collingwood, and more recently, The Gardens of Wasaga Beach.

Gray was a loving father to sons Christopher (Alice) and Carleton (Kimberley), grandfather to Eric (Sara), Graham (Emily) and Michelle, great-grandfather to Alexander and Carolyn. Gray was predeceased by his father Major Charles Styan, and mother Anne (Cunningham) Styan. He is lovingly remembered by friends and family from across Canada and overseas.

Gray had a long career with Bell Canada, with positions in Sherbrooke QC, Montreal QC and Brantford ON. After retiring from Bell Canada as Regional Engineering Manager, he took on several contract positions with Bell International with stations throughout the Caribbean, including Trinidad, Grenada and Antigua.

With his wife Phyllis, they shared a great passion for travel, camping, hiking, sailing, curling and skiing. Gray was instrumental in the early development of the Grand Valley Trail between Brantford and Paris.  Gray was a very active part of the Brantford community as President of the Brantford YMCA, serving on the Brantford Planning Board, and an active member of the Anglican Church community.  He had a love for art and history and a talent for painting, following in his father’s footsteps.

A private Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Gray’s guiding influence and ever-present support will be dearly missed by all of his friends and family. Arrangements entrusted to Fawcett Funeral Home – Collingwood.
