It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lynn Joanne Stewart (nee Motley), of Collingwood, Ontario on April 5th, 2024, at age 79, following a brief battle with cancer. Lynn died peacefully at home with her family by her side.

Lynn was born in Alliston, Ontario on October 31, 1944, and raised in Hagersville, Ontario, where she began her nursing career and met her husband, Bob. They finally settled in Collingwood in the early 1970’s, where Lynn continued as a Registered Nurse at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, eventually becoming the night shift supervisor. After retiring from nursing, she worked at the Alcoa plant. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and creating greeting cards.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Stewart (2009), parents James and Mary Motley, and brother Jim. She will be greatly missed by her two daughters, Laura Wilson (Richard) and Jennifer Stewart (Paul Thomsen), grandsons Jeremy (Brooke) and Alex, and siblings Sharron Dilly (Al), Mary Jayne Westaway (Frank) and Ken (Deb). She will be lovingly remembered by her crew of “adopted” daughters Cheryl, Joanne, Donna, and Sherri, and her precious group of “Bridgies,” who had been dear friends for years.

At Lynn’s request, cremation has taken place, and a family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lynn, to either the Collingwood Public Library or to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital, would be greatly appreciated by the family.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all of the doctors and healthcare workers at the RVH Cancer Centre, the transfusion clinic and the rest of the team at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, Dr. Matthew Weisbrod, the nurses from St. Elizabeth’s, the palliative care team and her caregivers, Hilda and Rachelle for their compassionate care.
