It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Mom, Nana and Gigi, Doris Squires in Collingwood, on January 8, 2024. Doris said that she always wanted to live to be 90. Her wish came true, and she celebrated well with cherished family and friends on December the 19th. Doris lived a full and wonderful life with her husband Ted (Toe)Squires as they entertained, traveled and raised their two children together. In her early days with Toe, Doris enjoyed skiing and sailing and pursued a love of tennis and golf. She was an amazing cook and gracious hostess to many, and nothing delighted her more than birthday and special occasion celebrations. Doris was an ageless Danish beauty and a true fashionista who had a passion for stylish clothes, and derived great pleasure in getting dressed up for any occasion. Thank you to Tigs in Thornbury for indulging her in her every whim. After Toe passed away in 2012, Doris reconnected with an old friend Edmund McClay and together they shared a loving companionship that included many world travels. Devoted mother to Susan (Paul Daignault) and Ted (Katy Leighton). Very proud Nana to Alexander (Kamila), and Jeffrey (Jillian), Thomas (Maddy) and Meg, as well as adoring Gigi to great grandsons Finn and Theo. Doris is survived by her dear brother Bud (Susan) Christensen, sister-in-law Wendy (Murray) Hall, brother-in-law Larry (Anne Marie) Squires and many nieces and nephews. Doris is predeceased by her parents Sigurd and Christine Christensen, and siblings, Sonja, Chris, Bill, Inga and Howard. Doris’ loving devotion towards her family will be truly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held when the Spring flowers bloom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital.
