Died peacefully on Monday March 11, 2024 at Campbell House Hospice, Collingwood at the age of 85.

Fran of Stayner, beloved wife of the late Burton (2015). Loving mother of Wayne (Lynne) and the late Nancy Dickey and mother-in-law of Brian Dickey (Maria). Cherished grandma of Tara (Warren Sly), Danny Somerville (Nadine), Todd Dickey (Brittany) and Scott Somerville (Jannel) and nana to Kayli, Landen, Carter, Taylor Lynne, Tait and Ella.  Dear sister Mary Helen Garvin, Judith (Norman Scrimger) and the late Louise Hedstrom. Dear sister-in-law of Marion (Wally Shelswell), Lloyd (Marilyn) and Wally (Shirley).  She will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Fran was always happiest when surrounded by family and the many friends she and Burton made over their 58 years of marriage.  Born Frances Isobel MacNicol, it quickly became clear that if you wanted something done, ask Fran.  She would milk cows, shower and dress up to the nines, drive the milk cans to Collingwood Dairy and then go to work at the Trott Furniture Store where she oversaw the furnishing of the cabins on the lake boats built at Collingwood Shipyards.  All this before she married at the age of 18.  She and Burton met through Junior Farmers and the Somerville family quickly recognized what a treasure she was.  As a young mother of Nancy and Wayne, she helped out at the barn, took over the bookkeeping for their dairy farm, contributed to the United Church in Stayner and many community organizations. It’s difficult to think about Fran without Burton.  They formed the best partnership and together they accomplished many wonderful things.  Fran had a great ability to care for others and make lasting friendships that she held so dear. She will be so greatly missed by all those that loved and knew her. Rest peacefully mom, grandma, nana, sister, aunt and friend.

Friends will be received at the Centennial United Church, 234 William Street, Stayner on Friday March 15, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon for visitation.  The Funeral Service will follow at 12:30 p.m.  The ceremony will be available to watch by live streaming.  The link is available within the Book of Memories. Reception to follow in the church hall.  Private family graveside later in the day at Stayner Union Cemetery.  If desired, a donation to Centennial United Church or Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation for Campbell House would be appreciated by Fran’s family.  To sign her Book of Memories, please visit www.carruthersdavidson.com
