David passed away peacefully at Campbell House Hospice on December 27th in his 97th year. Predeceased by his wife Florence and son David Douglas. He leaves behind his daughters Donna (Paul) and Debra (David) as well as grandchildren Shawn (Natalia), Shannon (Jeff), Darren and Jason. He will be greatly missed by great grandchildren Victoria, Vanessa, Katie, and Julia. He is survived by his sister Gail and her children John, Ken, Janice.

David lived in Mount Dennis (Toronto) before moving to Milton and finally settling in Creemore after a lifelong career working at Kodak. David was a veteran of the second world war in the tank core division and was a long-time member of The Royal Canadian Legion in Mount Dennis and Creemore where he enjoyed countless hours of volunteering at legion functions and Remembrance Day ceremonies. In his later years he enjoyed completing puzzles and crosswords or playing cards and darts with fellow Legionnaires.

The family would like to thank Blue Mountain Manor in Stayner for the care you showed David and making the manor feel like his home. To the wonderful staff at Hospice Georgian Triangle - Campbell House in Collingwood, David’s family cannot thank you enough for your kind and compassionate care in his final weeks. The staff all went consistently above and beyond, his family is eternally grateful.

Finally, to Dr. Pearce, a special thank you for all that you did for our father. The home visits, late night phone calls and your bedside manner were truly amazing.

David will be deeply missed, happily remembered, and never forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in David’s name to The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund. Friends may visit David’s online Book of Memories at www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com
