Smith, Daphne Theresa (nee Edwards)
Died peacefully on Thursday December 28, 2023 at Hospice Simcoe, with her daughter faithfully at her side at the age of 100. Daphne was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1990. She is survived by her daughter Janayre and her husband David Vaughan and her grandchildren James Vaughan and Patty Smith and her great grandchildren Abigail and Jadienne. Daphne is predeceased by all nine of her younger siblings. A war bride, she travelled to Canada settling in London, Ontario to await Robert’s return. They soon settled in Florida for 29 years before moving back to Peterborough where they operated their own General Store and Gas Station. They wintered in Riverview, Florida and following Robert’s death, Daphne continued to drive to Florida each winter until she was 85. She was a caring and nurturing woman and she made friends easily.
