PRINZEN, Jeannie

It is with deep sadness that we announce Jeannie Prinzen, age 70, of Wasaga Beach, passed away peacefully on February 4th, 2024, with her daughters by her side.

Jeannie was an extremely kind, caring, and compassionate soul with a huge heart and great sense of humour. Everyone who ever met her loved her instantly and she will be deeply missed by the many lives she brightened. Despite health and mobility challenges in recent years, she had a huge zest for life and made us all laugh each day with her antics and grandiose storytelling.

Jeannie was born in Etobicoke on June 16th, 1953, to her parents Helen and Norman Barron. She was a loving Mom to Kara Daniels (late Dean Daniels), and Loralie Prinzen (late Ben Klages); Awesome Grandma to Evan, Connor, Helena, Nora, Natalie & Ryan; Best friend and Partner to Henry Ploeg; Cherished sister to Joyce Abolins (late Andy Abolins) and the late Joan Ramsay (Don Ramsay); Loving Auntie to Donna, Darla, Danny, Julie, Andra, Nicole & Samantha. Great Aunt; Cousin and caring friend to many.

With great tenacity, Jeannie went back to school at the age of 44 to obtain her high school diploma! She held several jobs including hairdresser, nanny, hotel receptionist and switchboard operator, but the job she held the longest and took the most pride in was being a proud and caring mom to her daughters. With her great love of animals, she volunteered for animal shelters and adopted several rescue cats and dogs who were all well loved and cared for over the years.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Georgian Triangle Humane Society.

A Celebration of Jeannie’s life will be held Sunday February 11th, 2024, at the Wasaga Beach RecPlex/YMCA Oakview Centre, 1724 Mosley St, Wasaga Beach L9Z 1Z1.
