Died peacefully on Friday December 16, 2022 at his home at the age of 87.
Peter of Edenvale, beloved husband of Joan (nee Mayne). Loving father of Kevin Pilkey and Caroline Pilkey. Cherished grandfather of Jocelyn (David) Drabiuk, Kaleb (Michaela) Pilkey, Karie (Jeffrey) Rice and Isaac Alderman. Great grandfather of Avery, Hudson, Bennett, Knox, Lydia and the late Natasha. Peter is predeceased by his siblings James (Audrey), Betty, William (Ruby), Dorothy, Marshall, Everett and Marie Simo. Dear brother-in-law of Edwin Mayne, the late Joseph Mayne and Linda (Steve Wiebe).
He will also be missed by his canine companion Willy, his many nieces and nephews and his friends and neighbours. Peter was a hardworking man who rarely had a moment of idleness. A mechanic by trade, he worked for many firms in the Toronto area, retiring with Slade Cartage. He had a wonderful sense of humour and enjoyed a good practical joke. In retirement, he enjoyed the maple syrup harvest. He will be missed.
Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home – Stayner Chapel, 7313 Highway 26, Stayner on Wednesday December 28, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 205 Oak Street, Stayner on Thursday December 29, 2022 at 1 o’clock.
