Surrounded by her children, Janine Patchell peacefully passed away at age 93. The family is saddened by her death but take comfort in knowing that she had an opportunity to say her goodbyes to her loved ones.
Janine was predeceased by her husband Ron in 2013. Jan is survived by her loving family.
Children: Nancy, Brien (Kathi), Michèle and Jean Claude (Jaclyn). She was Grandmère to her Grandkids:
Aaron (Julia), Shawn (Idania), Jesse (Abbey), Leah (Eric), Nicholas, Victoria, Ben, Mick, Liana (Abhi); and GiGi to 7 Great Grandkids who brought her much pride and happiness. She also leaves her loving Brother and Sister-in-law, Jean Couture and Lise Simard and nephews Sebastien (Lisa) and Jean-Philippe (Stephanie) and their families. She was predeceased by brother and sister in law Graham and Diane Patchell.
Janine deeply cared for her close friends Gail and Alex Grant and Carolyn Stokes.
Janine was born in France but lived in Belgium during WWII. Jan's Mother Marcelle, married a Canadian Soldier Edouard Couture and they arrived by ship to Quebec at the end of the war. Jan graduated as a Nurse in Montreal and moved to Goose Bay Labrador to work in the hospital near the Airforce Base. There she met Ron, a Consulting Engineer graduate; and so their 60-year relationship began.
They raised their family in Toronto. Ron had a passion for skiing and we became early members of Craigleith Ski Club where we had years of good times with friends. Janine enjoyed cooking and hosting après ski dinner gatherings. In retirement Janine and Ron enjoyed boating on Georgian Bay and traveling in their RV across the continent.
Janine will join Ron with a Memorial Leaf at Craigleith Ski Club.
The family is grateful to the full staff at Balmoral Place where Support Workers and Nurses have provided exceptional care and kindness to Janine.
