With sadness, the family of John Charles Mills, announces his unexpected yet peaceful passing on July 24, 2023, after a short illness.


John is survived by his son, Brian (Meghan) and his daughter, Katrina (Danny) as well as his grandchildren, Grayson and Anna.

Born on September 30, 1953, John was one of 14 children of Adelaide Maude Bandfield and Gordon Edward Mills. He is survived by his siblings: Eileen, Daniel (Birgit), Jacki, Maureen (Brian), Judy (Brian), Darlene, Ron (Edith), Robert (Donna), Rick (Nancy), Paul (Silvia), Patricia (Jeff), and is preceded in death by Gordie and David.

John grew up in Richmond Hill, Ontario, and later settled in Aurora, Ontario. Throughout his life, John exhibited a remarkable drive that led him to success in the water industry, where he worked for many years.

John co-founded Fresh Water Industries alongside his former spouse, Karen Mills, in Newmarket, Ontario. Together, they nurtured and ran the business successfully for more than15 years. He was known for his keen business acumen and his ability to seize opportunities that came his way.

Outside of his professional life, John found solace and joy in Sauble Beach, Ontario. The stunning Lake Huron sunsets became a beloved part of his life, and he enjoyed the social atmosphere of the area. His entrepreneurial spirit extended to the restaurant industry as well, and he owned several restaurants in Sauble Beach, including the popular Sauble Dunes.

Hockey held a special place in John's heart, and he dedicated much of his time to Aurora Minor Hockey and the Richmond Hill Stars Hockey Club.

In honour of John's life, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Hospice Georgian Triangle in Collingwood, Ontario, in lieu of flowers. Hospice Donations

A celebration of life will take place on September 10, from 1-3 pm at Cardinal Golf Course in Newmarket. Food and drinks will be provided. Cardinal Golf Club
