David Garnet McQueen, Life-long resident of Collingwood, passed away peacefully September 26, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born July 9, 1959, in Collingwood, the eldest son of Dorothy and the late Gordon McQueen.

David, a loving and caring father and grandfather, leaves behind his two wonderful sons, Keifen and Kyle; three beautiful grandsons Seamus, Truette and Riley and pre-deceased by his precious granddaughter, Kiara. He was a wonderful son to Dorothy, the best ‘big brother’ to Stephen and Keith and caring uncle to his many nephews and niece.

He was a great friend to all, always willing to take the time to stop and talk, to help when needed and to always be available for family and friends. David always had a smile on his face, no matter the challenge he faced he never complained, always finding the strength and determination to move forward. He loved his family and was very proud of his sons, grandchildren, niece and nephews. A conversation with David always included an update on how the kids are doing. His family meant the world to him.

David was an entrepreneur at heart and a jack-of-all-trades. He was the best friend to have; he had a truck; he could fix anything; and he was always willing to lend a hand to help. Over his life he ran auto repair, snowplowing, lawn sprinkler and car detailing businesses. He could do it all. As a man of true integrity and a tireless work ethic, David’s customers could always count on him to deliver great service at a fair price.

He enjoyed being outdoors and revelled in the beauty and opportunity that living in Collingwood offered, excelling at downhill skiing, water skiing and windsurfing. David loved spending time on the water boating and entertaining his friends and family, teaching waterskiing to anyone brave enough to take on the challenge.

David was a selfless man with a big heart whose passing will leave an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His generosity, love and support of family and community will be forever ingrained in all he knew.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on October 5 at Fawcett Funeral Home, 82 Pine St., Collingwood. All are welcome to attend. Donations can be made to Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation. Friends may visit David's online Book of Memories at www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com
