Donald James “Donnie” McGuirk, 78, of Collingwood passed away peacefully in his home on March 15, 2024 after a long battle with cancer.

Don was born December 3, 1945, for Frank and Marguerite McGuirk at the Collingwood G&M Hospital.

Don worked for many years at Harding Carpets until their closing. He then went on to work for Saunders Books and then Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School board until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife Joyce (nee Kusiar), his children Frank (Angela), Michael (Nicole), Matthew (Candice), Amy (Kale) and Jason. Also survived by his sister Ann (Bill) Redick. Don was the proud Poppa of Meghan, Owen, Liam, Henry, Jack, Stevie, Arlo and Donnie.  He will be remembered fondly by his brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Don was a true family man and a fan of cars and guitars. A lover of all animals big and small, especially his dog Bueller.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Special thanks to his nurse Brittany for her continued support and care for Don and his family throughout his journey.

A celebration of life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion on Sunday April 7, 2024, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice Georgian Triangle or the Georgian Triangle Humane Society. Friends may visit Don’s online Book of Memories at www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com.
