Sally McCarthy (nee Gratton), born on April 27, 1945 in the town of Carlton, Nottinghamshire, England passed away very suddenly at her home in Stayner on January 5th, 2023.

Sally came to Canada in 1966 and continued her long career in accounting and bookkeeping for a number of companies until 2007. World-wide confectioners Mars Wrigley in Slough UK, robotics manufacturers Automation Industries (Canada) formerly in Malton, collectibles marketeers The Bradford Exchange in London, Ontario.

She moved to Wasaga Beach in 1989  and continued with local businesses Heritage Energy Systems formerly in Collingwood and finally Village Builders Inc in Creemore. From 2007 up until her passing she was a Customer Experience Associate at the Walmart Supercentre in Wasaga Beach.

Sally was a charter member of the Wasaga Community Theatre in 1991, active in many capacities. Prior to that she belonged to Pretty River Players in Collingwood. As a life-long lover of art and literature she was ‘in her element’ and was very proud and happy during her time in the theatre.

Since 1989 Sally stayed in the Georgian Bay area moving from Wasaga Beach to Collingwood and eventually Stayner. She loved the nature and geography of the surroundings and enjoyed simply driving the backroads uphill and down finding new routes and new sights in between yard sales and markets.

Sally is survived by her beloved sister Judith (Fan), her son Simon, daughter-in-law Sandra and Keith, her cherished grandchild. Sally’s family plan to hold a celebration of her life to share with friends later in the spring or summer of 2023. To sign Sally’s Book of Memories, please visit www.carruthersdavidson.com
