McCARTHY, Charles Joseph

Posted

Dad's Pic for his Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of Charles Joseph McCarthy (known as Chuck to many) announce his passing peacefully in the early morning of September 1, 2021, at the Elden Retirement Home in Bradford.  He is survived by his loving wife Helen McCarthy nee Caffery. Proud and devoted father to his 5 children Frank, Mike (Erica), Dan (Julia), Tom and Mary Ann (Mark). Beloved grandfather to his 7 grandchildren Brian, Carly, Barrett, Austin, Max, Taylor and Trista. He was also predeceased by his sister Mary and brother John and will be missed by sister Peggy and his brother Mike.

He spent 30 years mostly as a Regional Manager of the London Life Insurance Company mentoring and leading a very successful branch. Outside of work Chuck was ordained a Permanent Deacon in the Roman Catholic church in 1974.  Chuck was a faithful servant and blameless example to the churches to which he was appointed to serve, St. Bonaventure Church in Don Mills and St. Mary's Church in Collingwood Ontario. He touched so many lives with his endless service as a Deacon. The ministry that he chose was visiting penitentiaries spreading the word of God to the prisoners and walking alongside them on their road to restoration. He also ministered to the elderly in nursing homes. He was a very faithful man who touched the lives and was loved by so many.

Chuck's passion was golf, and he had many claims to fame but most notably his 7 hole in ones. The family will miss his guidance, sense of humour and love.  September 7, 2021, would have been Chuck and Helen's 64th wedding anniversary.   Truly a real-life love story.

Due to the restrictions still in place surrounding COVID-19, there will be a private family mass on Saturday September 4, 2021, at 11 a.m. A livestream of the service will be available, please go to the Fawcett Funeral Home website www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com to view the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Charles' memory to the St Vincent De Paul, Collingwood. https://ssvpcollingwood.ca/
