It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our beautiful shining star Kathleen Victoria Marshall (Hubbert). Katie died in a terrible car accident on September 23, 2023 which left her husband Brody with serious life threatening injuries. He continues to recover in Sunnybrook trauma Centre.

Katie lived life every day to the fullest. She was full of energy and happiness. Katie leaves us at the age of 31 but lived a life full of love and passion for her family, her horses, and her career as a Security Officer at RVH in Barrie. Katie and Brody have a home in Stayner Ontario but most of their time was spent at Katie’s parent’s farm in New Lowell. Katie and Brody showed their horses all over Ontario and in the United States but she was always proud to have the Community of New Lowell announced before and after their many wins over the years.

Katie’s work on RVH’s Security Team was extremely important to her. She was loved and respected in every part of the hospital because she was incredible at her job of de-escalating and supporting patients, families and her coworkers. Katie was fiercely protective, and from the time she was a little girl, was dedicated to doing “the right thing”. She had a strong sense of ethics and was blessed with not just being highly intelligent but an emotional intelligence that was her super power. She had found her people in the Security Team and blossomed in that role.

Katie was born in New Lowell to Rob and Sherry Hubbert the middle child; pre deceased by her brother Jesse and older sister to Braydon. She loved her family and was thrilled to welcome her sister-in-law Courtney who was her best friend and sister. Nephew Clyde Jesse Hubbert was the apple of her eye and she loved being an Auntie. Katie will also be greatly missed by her in-laws, Kim and Gerry Marshall, her sister in law, Bobbi Joe and nephew Matthew.

Katie met Brody at a horse show when she was 16 years old and they were instantly bonded. She loved her Brody. They lived their lives in a focused passion for their horses and barrel racing together all over Ontario and the States. Katie knew everyone, she knew people’s names and more importantly their stories. She was dedicated to mentoring and supporting youth barrel racers and was always the best fan for all in her sport. She could always be counted on to be the biggest cheerleader! She was an incredible rider, athlete and was gentle and patient when training young horses. She shared her love of barrel racing with her many friends and they were definitely her other “family”.

We are hopeful to have Katie’s Celebration of Life in mid November as the horse show season will be completed at that time and she would not want her horse show family to miss a show on her account! Our family is overwhelmed by the incredible outpouring of love and compassion for Katie, Brody and our entire family. If people would like to donate in her memory, the family would wish for donations in lieu of flowers go to Hospice Simcoe or Hospice Georgian Triangle.

Katie experienced the incredible support of Hospice Simcoe with the death of her brother Jesse and was quick to join any fundraiser for these incredible organizations. Our family will never recover from our loss of our beautiful daughter but are blessed with the love of all that knew and loved Katie. Thank you.
