John Robert "Bob" MacMaster peacefully passed away at his home in Collingwood on Sunday, December 3, 2023, with Lynn, his devoted wife and best friend of 66 years, at his side. Lynn has been his constant companion, sharing in the joys and challenges of life's journey together.

Bob, the beloved father of James (Jim) and his wife Gloria Cardenas, and Stephanie and her husband Cam Fryer, was also the cherished and proud grandfather (Popi) of Kennedy MacMaster, Aislyn, and Kenzie Fryer, and step-grandchildren Matthew, Joseph, and Catalina Conn.

He was the dear brother of Bill and his wife Elsie, and Ken and his wife Barb MacMaster, all of London. Bob was predeceased by his parents Angus and Lorna MacMaster.

Bob was born in London, Ontario, and raised his children in Lorne Park, Mississauga, before moving to Collingwood in 1988. There, he opened the Pizza Hut franchise, adding a second location in Stayner and worked with his devoted family and staff until he sold the business in 1999. Subsequently, Bob built a successful birding outfitters store, MacMasters Crossing, where he was blessed to have developed memorable customers and friendships.

Bob enjoyed his regular golf games, finding joy in the camaraderie with his good buddies. He also treasured summer visits to Cam and Steph’s cottage, took pleasure in shared moments with Jim and Gloria in Utah. Additionally, he enjoyed a couple of cruise holidays in recent years, creating lasting memories.

Bob, an entrepreneur, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cherished friend, embodied true gentlemanliness and unwavering loyalty. He had a remarkable gift for spreading joy and effortlessly became the heart of any gathering, infusing laughter into every room. Many recognized and appreciated his caring, warm, and generous nature. The legacy he leaves behind will flourish through the lives of those he loved, and his presence will be both cherished and deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Thank you to Dr. O’Halloran, Dr. MacDonald, and Dr. Bonta for their special care during his journey with declining health due to Congestive Heart Failure.

At Bob's request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Collingwood on Friday December 22, 2023 from 2-4 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Georgian Triangle or the General & Marine Hospital Foundation in Bob's memory.
