Our family announces Bruce’s passing on Monday, August 28, 2023, in his 88th year at Campbell House Hospice in Collingwood. He is loved deeply by his wife of 58 years, Jean (nee McEachern) and their children Andrew (Nancy) and Jennifer. His cherished grandchildren Ashlyn and Owen will treasure their memory of him as their kind and fun-loving Grandpa.

Bruce was born May 16, 1936, in Hamilton, ON to parents Alexander and Mabel Mackison.  As a child he was curious and artistic. He attended West Dale Highschool and graduated from McMaster University in Hamilton.  He started his teaching career in a country schoolhouse and taught art at various schools in Georgetown and continued as an Art Consultant for Waterloo County Board of Education for 30 years. He also taught at the University of Western Ontario and Brock University.

Following his retirement, Bruce and Jean moved to Collingwood in the early 1990’s.  Bruce served for many years as President of the Collingwood Historical Society and was presented with an honorary lifetime membership in 2015 in recognition of his hard work and commitment to preserving local history. He had a deep faith in God and was a dedicated member of All Saints Anglican Church.

Bruce will be remembered fondly for his kindness, caring nature, and quiet sense of humour, all while talking with his hands. And his love for his Boxer Dogs Max, Sadie and Alex.  He was a cherished presence in every life he was a part of and will continue to hold a special place in their hearts.

A service of remembrance will be held at All Saints Anglican Church at 1 p.m. on Wednesday September 6, 2023, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Bruce may be made to the Georgian Triangle Humane Society. Friends may visit Bruce’s online Book of Memories at www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com
