Died peacefully on Tuesday January 30, 2024 at Campbell House Hospice, Collingwood at the age of 77.
Tom of Stayner, loving and devoted husband of Denise (nee Rayner) for over 30 years. Dear father of Jenny and Melissa Lorway and step-father of Melissa Rayner, Megan O’Brien (Nathan Weatherall) and Justine O’Brien (Ryan Boyce). Cherished Papa to Cayley, Jackson, Rylee, Landen, Illiana, Daxton, Quinton, Ben, Brody, Annabelle and Tate. Tom is predeceased by his parents Terry and Gertrude and by his sister Georgette. He is survived by his sister Geraldine (John Gilson) and by Denise’s parents Janice and Charlie Rayner.
Tom was marketing manager at CP Rail for 24 years and transportation and logistics manager at Petro Canada for another 13 years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, baseball, antique furniture refinishing, watching his favorite sports teams on T.V. and spending quality time with his family and friends. He enjoyed walking his fur babies – Gracie, Zoey and Baylee. Tom was a very kind, loving and devoted brother, father, husband and papa. He will be deeply missed. His family wish to thank Dr. Gandhi and all the caregivers at the General & Marine Hospital and Campbell House for their care and compassion following Tom’s stroke.
A celebration will be planned at a later date. If desired, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by Tom’s family.
