JOHNS, Gesina Rachel (nee Kenwell)

Johns, Gesina Rachel (nee Kenwell) passed away at her home at Raglan Village in Collingwood on Saturday March 2, 2024, with her niece Deanna Kenwell of Collingwood, by her side.  Gesina (Genie) (Jean) was in her 102^nd year. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon Johns of Barrie on March 22, 2008. Gesina bought and sold antiques, many properties and real estate throughout her life.  She owned and operated an antique store in Cookstown for many years and worked at Wright Cleaners in Barrie. Starting from a young age she was always busy working alongside her father at home or on the farm; she kept her hands working, right to the end.  Her parents John and Gesina Kenwell were married in Collingwood in 1919, later moving to Edenvale area to raise their family of 9 children. Gesina was the 3^rd eldest; she was predeceased by all 8 siblings, 5 brothers and 3 sisters. At her request there will be no formal services.  She will be laid to rest with her husband Gordon at Barrie Union Cemetery.
