Hubbard, Jennifer

July 19, 1966 - November 13, 2023

As you read my obituary, please know I am in a very good place after a hard-fought battle with cancer. A battle led by me, but waged by a whole litany of soldiers who held my hand throughout letting me know there was hope, I was loved and blessed to have lived such a wonderful, albeit short, life.

I was born on July 19th, 1966, to Carla Alexandra (n. Baerman d. 1983) and Grant Horton Hough in Montreal, Quebec.  My sister Debra Lynn would follow 3 years later with our home being Dorval, Quebec.  Learning at the tail end of the 1980’s that my family would be moving to Toronto, I would attend the University of Toronto and Lisa Thivierge would join the family in October 1986 when she married my father.

My world would change dramatically at a good friends’ marriage when I met "wedding guy", the man I would share my life with. I was smitten. My relationship with Jim Hubbard took off from there and we married in 1995.  Maddie (b. 2000) and Trevor (b. 2004) were beloved additions to ours and the extended Hubbard family - joining our world full of love and kindness.  They made me so proud in all they did and do, often challenging me to be a better person.  At the centre was our ‘rock’ Jim, who gave great credibility to the adage ‘we got this’. Our family unit was truly the foundation for our happiness during some of the most challenging of times.

Anchoring me were the family and friends I was surrounded with throughout my life. They made me strong, gave me confidence and we truly loved each other.  They know who they are.  I just hope they know how much they meant to me.

And finally, I was blessed to enjoy a career of 30 years in the banking and investment industries. I am honoured by the outpouring of support I’ve received throughout this journey, from all who I’ve had the opportunity to serve. I am who I am because of the mentorship I received over the years, which truly gave me the confidence and the opportunity to have an impact.

From Jennifer's family, we thank all who loved her for the outpouring of support provided over her journey. A private celebration of life will be held in the Spring of 2024. Donations in Jennifer's honour may be made to the Jennifer Hubbard Legacy Fund, in support of colorectal cancer at Sunnybrook Hospital.
